H.E.R.O. is the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team's new Men's Health Education Program.  It is designed to provide innovative services to an ever growing population of men "at risk" for, and/or "living with" HIV.  H.E.R.O. strives to go beyond the standards of traditional HIV outreach, prevention and education in hopes that a newer and fresher approach will result in a stronger impact on the community.  H.E.R.O. events like "The Safe & Sexy Lounge" seek to make prevention and education fun.  Program workshops like "Many Men, Many Voices" seek to focus outreach on quality instead of quantity, addressing issues of culture and substance abuse as well as sexual risk behavior.

H.E.R.O. offers the community a resource of social support networks through its workshops and rap groups.  Along with referrals to HIV testing and substance abuse treatment centers, the program takes health education to schools, festivals and conferences as well.  H.E.R.O.'s goal is to reduce HIV infection and raise awareness through outreach events, workshops, 1-on-1 counseling, and community based social events. ]
